The municipality of Opsterland has expressed its concerns in The Hague about the planned gas extraction in the 'Akkrum' field.

The municipality of Opsterland, housing associations Elkien, WoonFriesland, Woonzorg Nederland, and tenants' organization Huurdersbelang Fryslân have established the performance agreements for 2026. Together, the organizations will invest more than €12.6 million in the coming year.
