City Council

The Opsterland Municipal Council has 23 members, divided into 7 political groups (political parties). The mayor serves as the council’s chairperson but does not have the right to vote. The Municipal Council represents the people of the municipality.

    An informational council meeting will be held on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, starting at 7:30 p.m. in the council chamber in Beetsterzwaag.

    The City Council will meet on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at 7:30 p.m. in the council chamber of the City Hall in Beetsterzwaag. You are cordially invited to attend.

  • The Council on TV

    Soon, it will be even easier to watch the council meetings live. Starting May 19, the Opsterland City Council meetings will be broadcast live on television (FRYN).
