If your plan does not fit into the environmental plan, you need an environmental permit that deviates from the environmental plan. 

The environmental plan states how the land in an area and the buildings on it may be used.

Do you want to use land or buildings in a different way than stated in the environmental plan? Then you can ask the municipality to change the environmental plan. 

Do you want to build or have your own house built in the municipality of Opsterland? We have building plots for sale in a number of villages.

On September 18, 2023, the municipal council adopted the Woonvisie municipality of Opsterland "public housing program. The Woonvisie sets the course of the municipality's housing policy for the coming years.

Do you want to demolish a property or home? Or part of one? If so, in most cases you must file a demolition notification. In some cases, you will need a permit.

Asbestos fibers can lead to life-threatening diseases. As long as asbestos is trapped in other material, it is not necessarily dangerous. It becomes a health risk when asbestos fibers are released and can be inhaled. For example, during demolition work.

Do you want to make an entrance or exit to the public road at your home or business, or do you want to change an existing entrance or exit? If so, you must report this to the municipality. 

The welfare committee advises on the appearance of structures and spatial quality.

The municipality inspects businesses and residents and monitors construction and demolition activities, asbestos removal and compliance with environmental regulations.

Do you suspect that a construction or remodeling project is not going according to the rules? You can report this to the municipality.

The new Omgevingswet will take effect on June 1, 2024. This law brings big changes for municipality, residents and organizations.

Is your home or business not connected to the sewer system? The municipality provides the connection to the public sewer system from the plot boundary of your building. On your own property, you must provide your own sewerage system.

The days when the municipality determines what is good for its residents are far behind us. In recent years we have seen more and more initiatives emerging from society. An initiative in public space is an idea for adapting or improving the living environment.

The Municipality of Opsterland has registered all buildings and addresses within the municipal boundaries. These registered data are passed on to the central information system: the National Facility for Basic Registrations of Addresses and Buildings (BAG-LV). The data of issued building permits are also registered in the BAG-LV.

Lighting a fire is cozy and, of course, nice and warm. In summer, we also like a BBQ in the garden. However, the smoke that is released is not always appreciated by your neighbors. As a municipality, we do not want to prohibit lighting and barbecuing. But we do want to ask everyone to limit the nuisance as much as possible.

We expect another nuisance from the oak processionary caterpillar this year. The tiny burning hairs of the caterpillar cause irritation to skin and eyes.
