Communicating relocation
Are you coming to live in Opsterland? Or are you moving within Opsterland? Please report this to the municipality. Are you moving to another municipality? Please report your move to your new municipality.

To report your move immediately, please fill out the form below, this can be done starting 28 days before the move date.
If you prefer to visit the town hall to report the move, please make an appointment in advance .

Requirements
Who may report a move?
- Anyone 16 years of age or older may report his/her own move.
- Parents, guardians or caregivers report the move for their minor children.
- Parents and their adult child(ren) may report each other's move if they live at the same address.
- Spouses or registered partners may report each other's move if they live at the same address.
- The trustee notifies the move if the person moving is under guardianship.
- An adult authorized in writing to do so may report the move.
Cost
Registering a move is free of charge.

Report your move to the municipality on time (within 5 working days after you move to the new address). If you do not do this? This may have consequences for your rent subsidy, study financing, municipal taxes or benefits. You can also report your move before you move. You can report your move using the online form 'Relocation report' (at the top of this page under the heading 'Directly arrange it').

Moving abroad
Anyone who expects to stay abroad for more than two-thirds of a year is required to de-register. This must be done up to 5 days in advance. If not all family members are departing abroad, those departing abroad (including minor family members) must appear in person at the front desk to file departure declarations.

Requesting a letter address
Do you have no residential address in the Netherlands? For example, because you are staying in an institution or prison? Or because you have no permanent place to live (e.g. skippers)? Then you can apply for a postal address at the municipality. A postal address is the address of an acquaintance who receives your mail.
The main Requirements are:
- you have no fixed place of residence or domicile (the municipality investigates this)
- The letter address is in the Netherlands
- the letter address is not a postbus
- you have a clear reason for the request
When applying for a letter address, you will need:
- A written explanation: why do you need a letter address?
- written consent of the primary occupant of the letter address
- A copy of the main resident's identification card
- A valid ID of yourself
You can request a letter address at the Public Center.
