Trafo notifications
To meet the growing demand for energy, the number of transformer stations (Trafo's) in the municipality is being expanded. This means that more so-called "electricity houses" will soon be visible in public spaces. This page shows the current status of land sales for transformer stations.
Doubling the number of cottages
Grid operator Liander has a huge challenge to reinforce the low-voltage grid. This is necessary so that households and small businesses can expand and become more sustainable. Think about charging facilities for electric vehicles, installing solar panels or realizing a heat pump. To this end, the existing number of electricity houses will be almost doubled in the coming years. Liander estimates that this will involve about 250 houses in Opsterland.
Neat finishing or green screening
The location of a power house depends on the local underground grid structure. As a result, there is only limited room for maneuvering in the location of the house. This means that, in practice, there is sometimes no alternative but to place a house close to houses. With the finishing of the house (color, door, grids) or with art, the impact on the spatial quality is limited. In some situations, the choice is even made to shield the cottages with greenery.
The municipality carefully reviews
Placing a cottage is permit-free. This means that local residents cannot object. However, permission is required from the municipality. The location proposed by Liander will be tested by the municipality. Among other things, the view for local residents, accessibility, traffic safety and existing trees are considered.
Liander is responsible
Liander, as the grid operator, is ultimately responsible for placing and managing electricity boxes. A number of technical and safety rules apply to the placement from Liander. This mainly has to do with the location of the underground cables and the distance to the connections that will be fed by the transformer house. Liander will inform local residents in advance with a letter. The locations where Liander plans to place a house are published in the Sa. More information can be found on Liander's website.
Glazier
There are (have been) two companies active in installing fiber optics in Opsterland. These companies have also installed transformers on purchased land. These are Kabelnoord and DELTA Fiber.
Didam
In connection with the Supreme Court ruling on November 26, 2021, called the Didam ruling, from May 17, 2022, new building lots for housing, business lots and sale/rental/lease of land will be handled through a new procedure. After the public disclosure on the municipal page of the Sa! and on the municipal website of the aforementioned lots, if interest is expressed by several parties, a drawing of lots through an authorized notary will take place. The Requirements of the procedure can be found on the website of the Opsterland Municipality (reference Izaak 0086121196).
All publications about new construction lots and land sales/leases/leases can be accessed through our website and the local weekly newspaper the Sa!
