Requirements

When do you file a demolition notice?

You file a demolition notification if:

• demolition will generate more than 10^{m3 of} waste;
• you are removing asbestos during demolition.

If the building in question is pre-1994, an asbestos inventory report must be prepared for it. An asbestos inventory company can prepare such a report for you after inspection. Look for a certified company in your area on the website of Stichting Certificatie Asbest www.ascert.nl

You can suffice with a demolition notification without an asbestos inventory report if you are a private citizen and you are removing:

• no more than ^35m2 of bolted, bonded asbestos-containing (corrugated) sheets (not roof slates);
• No more than 35^{m2 of asbestos-containing} floor tiles or unglued asbestos-containing floor covering;
• asbestos-containing window boxes or loose asbestos-containing sheet material.

You may remove these materials yourself and you may dispose of the asbestos at the Environmental Site.

Note that material that resembles asbestos must be treated as asbestos.

When do you need an environmental permit?

Sometimes you need an environmental permit instead of the demolition notification:

• during demolition work on a national monument;
• If the demolition violates the zoning plan.

When do you not have to do anything?

You do not need to do anything if:

• if the demolition produces less than 10^{m3 of} waste and if you do not remove asbestos during demolition;
• if the demolition work does not involve a national monument.
• If the demolition does not violate the zoning plan.

Note that material that resembles asbestos must be treated as asbestos.

Submit a Demolition Notice

You can submit your demolition notice online via the Omgevingsloket at .

To do this, follow the steps below:

1. Click "Start Application" and log in with your DigiD
2. In Step 3, “Choose Activities,” type “demolition” in the search box
3. Select the activity“Demolition of a structure or part thereof, or removal of asbestos – Report (Federal Government)”
4. Go through the questionnaire
5. Check your information and submit the report

Health that you have this information on hand

When filling out the demolition notification, you will be asked, among other things, for:

• The area in m² of the materials to be removed. Please specify this in square meters, for example, 12 m², and not the number of corrugated sheets.
• Where the material comes from, such as the roof of a barn
• How the material is attached—for example, screwed, nailed, or glued

We understand that the Omgevingsloket isn't easy for everyone to use. That's why you can also use the municipality's demolition notification form; this form is easier to fill out.

Register Asbestos-Free Corrugated Sheets

Do you have asbestos-free corrugated sheets on your roof or shed, and do you want to remove them? At the recycling center, we can’t tell just by looking at the outside whether a sheet contains asbestos or not. That’s why you must always file a demolition notification first, even for asbestos-free corrugated sheets.

Why is a demolition notice required for asbestos-free panels? 

Asbestos-free corrugated sheets look very similar to old, asbestos-containing sheets. Employees at the recycling center cannot take any risks with health and safety on the spot. With an approved demolition notification, we know exactly what type of material you are bringing in, so we can accept it safely.

Cost

There is no charge for the demolition notification. You pay fees for an environmental permit.
