Housing vision municipality of Opsterland
On September 18, 2023, the City Council adopted the Woonvisie municipality of Opsterland "public housing program. The Woonvisie sets the course of the municipality's housing policy for the coming years. This policy was drawn up in consultation with all sorts of stakeholders such as Local Interest Groups, housing corporations, tenants' organization De Bewonersraad, healthcare parties and market parties.
On April 20, 2023, the five regional municipalities in Southeast Fryslân concluded a so-called Regional Housing Deal Southeast Fryslân with the province of Fryslân and the Minister for Housing and Spatial Planning, Mr. Hugo de Jonge. The aim is for the municipality of Opsterland to build a minimum of 530 homes of the 900,000 homes Minister De Jonge wants to build throughout the Netherlands in the period up to and including 2031.
Focusing on the new construction program for the coming years, the Opsterland municipality chooses to enable housing construction along three tracks:
- To realize the target groups named in the Regional Housing Deal Southeast Fryslân in a number of expansion areas (named as "key projects" in the Regional Housing Deal Southeast Fryslân), which the Municipality of Opsterland owns, in order to keep control of the development of these homes.
- To be able to build housing in all nuclei in the municipality to enhance the living environment through restructuring and transformation of properties within the existing "urban area.
- Allowing building outside the existing "urban area" provided it fits the Fryslân Environment Ordinance.
