RUFT Scheme

Do you have young children in diapers? If so, with the introduction of Diftar+ (starting January 1, 2026) you may pay more due to the weight of full disposable diapers. To compensate, you can use the RUFT scheme. Did you know that there is a good alternative to disposable diapers in the form of washable diapers? This produces much less waste and is more sustainable.

Requirements

  • If there is a household with one or more children aged 0 to 3, an allowance of €75.00 (per child) may be granted on request.
  • A household is eligible for this allowance if the family income is not less than the applicable standard for the social minimum (as determined by the UWV).
  • The allowance is granted annually and is valid for the duration of the fiscal year in which the application is approved.

The following attachments should be included with the application:

  • Proof of registration of the child or children at the residential address.

Request

You can apply for the RUFT scheme from January 1, 2026. The application form can be found at the top of this page under the heading 'Directly arrange'.

Switch to washable diapers

In Opsterland live about 1,200 children of diaper age. On average, each child uses 5,000 disposable diapers à together accounting for millions of diapers waste per year.

Washable diapers are a sustainable and comfortable alternative. They not only save waste, but also money. Modern washable diapers are easy to use and come in fun colors and patterns.
