A safe neighborhood

Together with you, we make neighborhoods and villages safer. On this page, you can read how.

Burgernet

The municipality and the police work daily to ensure safety on the streets. But you can also help by joining Burgernet! In the event of an emergency, such as a missing person, robbery, or theft in your area, you will be notified. And you can report anything you have seen. Click here for more information.

Neighbor disputes and neighborhood mediation

Annoyed by noise, children, pets, or an illegally parked car? What is normal for one neighbor may be disturbing to another. Are you in conflict with neighbors or fellow residents and unable to resolve the issue (together)? The website www.problemenmetjeburen.nlprovides general information about the 10 most common neighbor problems and tips for possible solutions.

Free neighborhood mediation

Are you unable to find a solution despite all the tips? Then make use of Buurtbemiddeling Opsterland free of charge. Whether it concerns harassment, litter in the street, or other nuisance.

WhatsApp neighborhood watch

Sharing information between local residents is important for a safe and livable neighborhood. A Neighborhood Watch WhatsApp group can help with this. Local residents can start such a WhatsApp group themselves. Via WhatsApp, residents can report suspicious situations together, warn each other, report the suspicious situation to the police, and possibly disrupt it.

Residents act as extra eyes and ears for the police via the Neighborhood Watch WhatsApp group. Most burglaries are prevented or solved thanks to observant neighbors. Click here for more information

Residential burglary

Residential burglaries, along with violence, street robberies and assaults, are among the so-called "high impact crimes. These crimes greatly infringe on people's privacy and sense of security and on victims of these crimes.

Prevent burglary, take measures. More information can be found here.
