Burgernet

This is a telephone network of residents and employees of companies in the municipality. The dispatcher at the police control room initiates a Burgernet action, following a report of, for example, a burglary or missing child.

Based on a good alert, Burgernet participants receive a voice message via the app a message. Simply from their own home, on the street or from their workplace. In this way, you immediately help to locate, for example, offender(s), a vehicle or a missing child.

Why Burgernet?

Living and living in a safe environment: that's important to you too, isn't it? The municipality and police work daily to keep the streets safe. In your own neighborhood you can do a lot yourself to keep your environment pleasant. Many people already do this: by having a chat or by keeping their own street clean. The municipality and police would like to work even better together with the residents. That is why there is Burgernet. By using your eyes and ears, you directly help to make your living environment safer.

When is Burgernet deployed?

For urgent matters, where a clear description is available. For example:

  • theft or burglary;
  • driving on after a collision;
  • purse snatching;
  • violence;
  • missing persons.

Signing up for Burgernet

  • Go to www.burgernet.nl

This allows you to use your smartphone anytime, anywhere to help locate suspicious or missing persons. To use the app, it does not matter whether or not you are a participant of Burgernet.
