Sustainability Weekend Opsterland
Friday, October 10 is Sustainability Day. Municipality Opsterland is going extra special with a Sustainability Weekend in Gorredijk and Ureterp: from Thursday 9 to Saturday 11 October. Together with the Sustainable Building Counter and housing corporations Elkien and WoonFriesland we offer free savings products, tips, advice and practical help to make your home more energy efficient.
What is there to do?
Mobile showroom - Sustainable Building Counter
View and experience energy-saving products such as heat pumps, infrared panels, draft strips, LED lights, radiator foil, solar panels, ventilation boxes and insulation materials.
An advisor will answer all your questions: Where do I start? Which measures fit my home? What subsidies and schemes are there?
Energy Scouts
The energy explorers in Opsterland will help you if you qualify for insulation subsidies. They:
- look with you at how you can make your home more sustainable;
- Help with forms, advice and quotations;
- Explore financing options with you.

Volunteer energy coaches
Volunteers from your own village with lots of practical knowledge. They give:
- saving tips for everyday use;
- tips for making your home more sustainable;
- a fresh look at larger measures (insulation, glass, and setting up your heat system more efficiently).

Voluntary energy fixers
In Gorredijk and Ureterp, volunteer energy fixers in the municipality of Opsterland apply small measures directly. Think of draft strips, radiator foil and replacing light bulbs with LED. Together with an energy coach, he or she provides additional savings tips. This will make your home more comfortable and reduce your energy bill.
On Thursdays, young people in Gorredijk under the guidance of welfare organization Code Hans lend a hand with small chores.
All materials we offer free of charge are provided by Kluswijs in Ureterp.
Housing associations Elkien and WoonFriesland
On Thursday, an Elkien employee will be present in Gorredijk. On Friday an employee of WoonFriesland is present in Ureterp. You can contact them with questions about your rental property, in the field of sustainability and broader.
More support
The main theme of the Sustainability Weekend is, of course, sustainability. But we also offer support on other topics.
- Gemeente Opsterland's budget coach helps free of charge with money worries and debts: understanding income and expenses, exploring solutions and referring to appropriate schemes.
- Buurtbakkie: come and have a cup of coffee and talk to Geeske about what's going on in your village!
In good weather, you will find the budget coach and Buurtbakkie in the parking lot across from the library in Gorredijk and at De Wier in Ureterp. In bad weather, you will find them at the Gorredijk library on Thursdays and Saturdays and at De Wier on Fridays.
