Illegal dumping of drug waste
In recent weeks, drug waste has been dumped at several locations in Southeast Friesland. Criminals involved in the production of (synthetic) drugs are dumping the waste generated by this process. This poses enormous risks to people and the environment. We therefore urge you to be extra vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
For example:
- Are there jerry cans, barrels, or large bags near a building, in a field, or in the woods?
These signs may be related to drug production and the disposal of drug waste in rural areas. If you see suspicious waste, stay away—it may contain toxic substances.
- Are there cars, vans, or trucks parked on a dead-end road in the woods or on a remote path through the meadows?
It could be that someone is disposing of drug paraphernalia. Especially if it’s a place with little traffic, and/or it’s late at night or early in the morning.
- Changes in animals, plants, trees, and soil
Have you suddenly noticed a lot of dead plants, trees, or animals in a rural area? Or have the soil, plants, or water suddenly changed color? These signs may be related to drug production and the disposal of drug waste in the natural environment.
Do you see anything suspicious?
- Please report it to your community police officer: send an email to or call 0900-8844.
- Not an emergency, but need the police? Then call: 0900-8844.
- Report a Crime Anonymously: send an email to or call 0800-7000.
- Do you see what looks like drug waste? It may contain toxic substances. Therefore, stay at least 25 meters away and call 911 immediately.
