A hot meal and help with saving energy
On Monday, March 30, the municipality of Opsterland organized its first “Buurthappie” event. Residents of the village gathered at the Langezwaag community center for a free hot meal and information on energy conservation.

While enjoying a free stew dinner, residents of Langezwaag had the opportunity to learn about energy-saving measures from energy coaches Bonne and Wietse. Using a thermal camera, the two men demonstrated how to identify where heat is escaping from a home, and with an energy meter, they showed how much you can save by replacing incandescent bulbs with LED bulbs. For some residents, this prompted them to schedule an appointment with the energy coaches right away.
During the Buurthappie event, Elkien’s neighborhood consultant was on hand to answer tenants’ questions. Several residents took advantage of this opportunity to ask questions about their rental homes or to share ideas that could improve the quality of life in the neighborhood. In addition, attendees could turn to Plaatselijk Belang and the Langezwaag village support center for assistance with a wide range of issues—from help filling out forms to advice on temporary medical aids such as wheelchairs.
There are also energy coaches active in your village. Would you like help lowering your energy bill and making your home more comfortable? Send an email to energie@opsterland.nl or call or text energy coordinator Jeroen Spoelstra at 06-22278853.
