Recommendation from the informateur: Opsterlands Belang and FNP are exploring a possible coalition in Opsterland
It is now up to Opsterlands Belang and FNP Opsterland to form a coalition. That is the recommendation made by the informateur, Maria le Roy, to the city council.
Since the municipal elections on March 18, Opsterlands Belang and the FNP have been the two largest parties in the Opsterland council. Together, they hold 13 of the 23 seats. Le Roy recommends a council consisting of two aldermen from Opsterlands Belang and one Alderman the FNP. She is also willing to serve as a formateur to guide the subsequent process.
Trust in collaboration
Over the past few weeks, informateur Le Roy has met with all seven political groups in the city council. During these meetings, Opsterlands Belang and the FNP expressed their confidence in the collaboration. According to Le Roy, the parties also get along well on substantive issues. In the coming period, the parties will work on a coalition agreement to form a stable and effective city council.
"The coalition has a comfortable, clear majority," says Le Roy. "By working well together and rolling up their sleeves as council members, they can make excellent progress." Click the button below to read the report.
