Winner Most Beautiful (re)construction project announced!

The election for the Most Beautiful (Re)Building Project of Opsterland has a winner: the modern barn house in Luxwoude has been chosen by residents as the most beautiful (re)building project of 2025. Until August 24, residents could vote for one of the five nominated projects. These projects were on display in the reception hall of the town hall in Beetsterzwaag for the past few weeks.

The election aimed to show how good designs contribute to a beautiful and pleasant living environment. Whether it is a residential house, a commercial building or a smaller structure, any project that enhances the appearance of Opsterland could compete for the title. The modern barn house in Luxwoude ultimately garnered the most votes and may call itself the Most Beautiful (re)construction project of Opsterland for a year.

Inspiration for the future

In Opsterland, construction and remodeling occur regularly. With each new project, choices are made that affect the appearance of the village and the quality of the living environment. With this election, the municipality wants to inspire residents and designers to not only design practically, but also with an eye for beauty and integration into the environment. By putting good examples in the spotlight, the municipality hopes that future building plans will be approached just as carefully and creatively.

Wethâlder Marcel van Opzeeland: "Opsterlân is known for its nature, monumental heritage and beautiful landscape. Mei dizze ferkiezing wolle wy sjen litte dat eús gebouwen en (fer)bouprojekten in wichtige bydrage leverje kinne oan dy kwaliteit. A good ûntwerp draacht bij oan de útstrieling fan ús doarpen en makket minsken grutsk op harren omjouwing. It is ynspirearjend to see how projects come to fruition with attention and pride. Wy hoopje dat dit foarbyld oaren motivearret om ek mei omtinken foar ûntwerp en leefberens oan 'e slach."
