Apply for a fireworks permit by November 1 at the latest

A nationwide fireworks ban has been in effect since August 2026. This means that residents of our municipality are no longer allowed to purchase or set off fireworks on their own. Local associations and foundations may, however, hold an organized fireworks event under the “ Requirements ” program. This requires a waiver from the municipality.

Are you a local club or foundation looking to organize a fireworks event on New Year’s Eve? You can only do so with permission (an exemption). Safety is always the top priority.

To obtain an exemption, certain conditions apply: Requirements.
For more information about our fireworks policy, please visit Opsterland.nl/vuurwerk.

Please note: The deadline for applying for the exemption is November 1.

Are you organizing a party with more than 200 guests, or will there be, for example, a party tent, a bar, or amplified music? If so, in addition to the fireworks permit, you’ll also need an event permit.

Applications and More Information

Would you like to apply for an exemption? Download the application form and review all the “ Requirements ” at www.opsterland.nl/vuurwerk. Send the completed form to the municipality.
