Voting card, voter ID and proxy

In order to vote, you need a voting pass. At least 2 weeks before the election you will receive your voting card at the address where you are registered. Do you want to vote outside Opsterland? With a voter card you can vote throughout the Netherlands. Are you unable to come to a polling station yourself? Then you can authorize someone else.

Please note: You can apply for a replacement voting pass, voter card or proxy online until October 24 at 4 p.m. at the latest. At the front desk in City Hall, you can do so until October 28 at noon.

Voting card: required to vote

You can use your voting pass at all polling stations in Opsterland. Did you not receive a voting pass or did you lose your voting pass? Then you can apply for a replacement voting pass.

Voter card: to vote nationwide

Do you want to vote outside the municipality of Opsterland? You can. You can convert your voting pass into a voter's card. With a voter card you can vote throughout the Netherlands.

Voter passes can still be requested in person at City Hall until Tuesday, 28-10-2025, noon.

Proxy: to have someone else vote on your behalf

Sometimes you cannot go to the polling station yourself, for example because of illness, vacation or work. You can have someone else vote for you. This is called proxy voting. The person you authorize can only cast your vote at the same time as his or her own.

Do you want to authorize someone from the municipality of Opsterland? Then fill in the back of your voting card and sign both. Then give your voting card to the authorized person. Do you want to authorize someone outside the municipality of Opsterland? Then you can click on the button Request a proxy.
