Voting card, voter ID and proxy

To vote for the European Parliament, you need a voting pass. You will receive this by mail no later than May 23. Do you want to cast your vote outside Opsterland? With a voter card you can vote throughout the Netherlands. Are you unable to come to a polling station yourself? Then you can authorize someone else. 

Voting card: required to vote

You will receive your voting card by mail no later than May 23. Take the voting pass with you when you go to vote and do not forget your ID. You can use your voting pass at all polling stations in Opsterland. Did you not receive your voting pass or did you lose it? Then you can apply for a replacement voting pass.

It is no longer possible to arrange this online. Until Wednesday, June 5, noon, you can stop by the Public Center (by appointment!) for a replacement voting pass.

Voter card: to vote nationwide

Do you want to vote outside the municipality of Opsterland? You can. You can convert your voting pass into a voter's card. With a voter card you can vote throughout the Netherlands. You can apply for a voter card through the Public Centre:

  • At the Public Center
    You can visit the Public Center by appointment to apply for a voter ID card. You can do so until noon on Wednesday, June 5 at the latest. Make an appointment online and bring your voter card(s) and valid identification. 

Proxy: to have someone else vote on your behalf

Sometimes you cannot go to the polling station yourself, for example because of illness, vacation or work. You can have someone else vote for you. This is called proxy voting. The person you authorize can only cast your vote at the same time as his or her own. Arranging the proxy can be done in two ways:
