RenS provides support for relationship issues and divorce

September 11 is Divorce Awareness Day. Relationship problems or a divorce can raise many questions and stir up a range of emotions. Statistics from Statistics Netherlands (CBS) show that most people decide to separate in September and January. The summer vacation is often a time for reflection. Have you realized that things aren’t working out anymore? The Relationship and Divorce (RenS) team at the municipality of Opsterland is here to help you—free of charge and with no obligation.

Help with Your Relationship or Divorce

Do you want to work on your relationship, or are you breaking up? You’re not alone. Team RenS can help with:

  • Better Communication: Sometimes you lose touch with each other. With the free SCHIP program, you’ll learn to talk to each other respectfully again.
  • Divorce Overview: We help you reach agreements regarding the children, financial matters, benefits, and housing.
  • The Relationship Walk: A 4.5-kilometer route in Beetsterzwaag featuring signs with conversation starters to help people reconnect with one another while walking.

Focus on Children and Financial Matters

A divorce is a major life event for children. For young children ages 3 and up, we use the “Mattenspel” to talk about their feelings. We also work with Villa Pinedo, where young people can talk to a buddy who has gone through a similar experience. In addition, our financial expert reviews your finances to help prevent money worries.
