Registered partnership

Requirements

• You are 18 years of age or older. For ages under 18, parental or court permission is required.
• You are not married and are not registered as a partner.
• You and your partner are not immediate relatives of each other (brother, sister, parent, grandparent).
• You meet the requirements of nationality and country of residence.

Cost

The cost of a registered partnership is the same as the cost of getting married.

Free registered partnership

You can enter into a free registered partnership in Opsterland on Monday and Tuesday mornings at 9:00 am. The Requirements are:

• at least one of the partners is an Opsterland resident;
• the registered partnership takes place in a consulting room, not in the Lycklamahûs;
• a maximum of two witnesses can be present;
• the registered partnership consists only of the legally required formalities; no speech is given.

Request

Directly arrange

Before you register a partnership, you must notify us (just like a civil marriage). To do this, fill out the form "Notification of Registered Partnership" (at the top of this page under the heading "Directly arrange") or contact the Public Center to make an appointment.

Bring

Please bring the following with you when you have an appointment to declare your registered partnership:

• valid ID;
• the details of the witnesses.
