Will you become our community poet?
The municipality of Opsterland is a beautiful municipality in the heart of the Frisian Woods. A municipality rich in forests, heathland, nature, meadows and 16 villages that all have their own story. A perfect breeding ground for art and culture.
Currently, Opsterland does not yet have a municipal poet. You can therefore become Opsterland's first municipal poet.
What does the municipal poet meet?
The municipal poet writes poems that fit the identity of Opsterland municipality. The municipal poet can carry and share poetry in an enthusiastic, appealing and stimulating manner. In doing so, there is room for an independent and critical view of the social and cultural changes in Opsterland.
What will the poet do?
- The municipal poet will be appointed for two years;
- Writes six poems a year that fit current events such as Liberation Day;
- Creates readings to tie in with cultural events;
- The municipal poet is at least 18 years old and lives in Opsterland.
- The municipal poet writes the poems in Dutch and in Frisian.
Reimbursement
The municipal poet is paid €1,000 per year.

You can sign up using the sign-up button below. To participate, you must submit a poem about Opsterland. You can respond until August 31, 2024. A jury will judge the poems and select the winner. The municipal poet will be sworn in as Opsterland's municipal poet in September.
