Diseased weeping beech tree removed from the Beetsterzwaag cemetery
A large weeping beech tree at the municipal cemetery on Gealeane in Beetsterzwaag is scheduled to be cut down this fall. The tree is very sick.

An inspection has revealed that the weeping beech’s condition has continued to deteriorate in recent years. Among other things, the tree has been affected by honey fungus. We have taken many measures in recent years to save the tree and restore its vitality, but unfortunately, these efforts have not been successful.
To ensure safety at the cemetery, it is necessary to remove the tree.
Replant
The weeping beech is a defining feature of the municipal cemetery. It therefore goes without saying that another tree will be planted in place of the diseased one. The best options for planting a new tree are currently being explored.
