Bird Flu
Do you see a sick or dead bird in a nature area? If so, do not touch the bird and leave it there. Area managers are paying extra close attention because of bird flu.
If you know who the conservation area manager is, please report it there.
Leave (water) birds alone
All natural areas in Fryslân are open. But in areas with many waterfowl, it is important to leave the animals alone. Is there bird flu in the area? Then it is better not to go there for a while. This way you help to prevent the spread of the virus.
- Stay on the paths
- Do not feed birds
- Leave birds alone. Groups of waterfowl in particular can spread the virus when they fly up.
This is also true if you go hiking or biking in the Wadden Islands.
