The civil registry is a department of the municipality. The civil registry creates and keeps official documents of important events. These documents are called deeds. Examples of deeds: birth certificate, marriage certificate, certificate of registered partnership, divorce certificate and death certificate.

Please note that the council works by appointment only.
You can request a transcript or excerpt of a civil status record. A transcript is a copy of the original certificate. It contains all the information on the certificate. You will only receive a copy:
- If the deed is about you, or:
- If you are immediate family of the person about whom the deed is concerned, or
- If you can prove that you really need a transcript, or
- If you have an authorization from the person about whom the deed is concerned.
In other cases, you can request an excerpt. An extract contains only the most important data from the deed. Anyone can obtain an extract from a civil status record. You must be able to identify the person to whom the certificate refers.
Please note that you request an extract from the civil registry in the municipality where the birth, marriage, registered partnership or death took place. You can request the extract online or stop by the Public Center. Please bring valid identification.
