Sûn Opsterlân
Gemeente Opsterland has committed to Jongeren op Gezond Gewicht in 2018, through which the municipality wants to give an impulse to initiatives aimed at prevention. The aim is to connect and facilitate (existing) initiatives, wishes and ideas within a village in order to strengthen them in this way. Within the municipality of Opsterland, we are working on the JOGG approach under the name Sûn Opsterlân.

Youth at healthy weight (JOGG).
The Jongeren Op Gezond Gewicht (JOGG) program is seen in the National Prevention Agreement as an important local approach to reducing youth obesity. In the Netherlands, 1 in 7 young people are overweight, and for adults it is 1 in 2 adults. Obesity is a strongly increasing social problem, making it one of the greatest threats to the health of the Dutch population, alongside smoking and excessive alcohol consumption.
Sûn Opsterlân
Children's behavior is greatly influenced by the environment in which they find themselves. When children grow up in an environment that encourages healthy behaviors, it has an effect on the rest of their lives.
Sûn Opsterlân, together with public and private partners (such as childcare, schools, sports clubs, supermarkets, event organizers, etc.) tries to influence the environment in such a way that healthy behavior is stimulated and the healthy choice becomes the easier choice. Examples include an exercise-friendly schoolyard, vegetable gardens, water taps, exercise-friendly design of the living environment, vegetables, fruit and water during events, exercise campaigns, etc.
Sûn Opsterlân is committed to a healthy environment!
