Sewer work

In the coming weeks, the sewers in Opsterland municipality will be cleaned and inspected. We are doing this to keep the sewers working properly and to protect the environment. The company vandervalk+degroot is carrying out this work. Later, renovations by the company GMB will also start.

What are we going to do?

A special vehicle sprays water through the sewer pipes to remove debris. Then a robotic camera looks at the pipes to see if repairs are needed. If so, we perform them.

Where and when?

Work will start next Tuesday in Ureterp, Tynje, Nij Beets, Beetsterzwaag and part of Wijnjewoude. This will take about six weeks. Vehicles are temporarily parked in the street, so there may be brief inconvenience at times.

Possible nuisances

We do our best to prevent nuisances. Nevertheless, it may happen:

  • Water splashed by air pressure.
  • An empty water trap causes an odor. You solve this by flushing water.

Tips:

  • Close the lid of your toilet and weight it down with a bucket of water.
  • Flush your toilet or drain after the work is done.

Sewer renovation

Starting April 15, GMB will start minor repairs in Gorredijk, Lippenhuizen, Wijnjewoude, Ureterp and Beetsterzwaag. In week 23, larger repairs will begin where the sewer can temporarily not be used. Residents will be informed in advance.
