Plans for new cycle route

Recently, the municipality organized three walk-in meetings in Luxwoude, Tijnje, and Nij Beets. Many residents came by to share their thoughts on the new cycle route between Drachten and Heerenveen.

Residents contribute ideas

During the meetings, we presented the initial designs for the route. Interested parties were able to ask questions and give their opinions. The municipality is pleased with all the responses.

How does it go from here?

  • We will soon be talking to the owners of land that is directly adjacent to the route.
  • We will incorporate residents' responses into a final design. This should be ready in April 2026.

What is a cycle route?

A cycle route is a wide and safe cycle path, primarily intended for people who cycle to work or school. The aim is to enable you to cycle between villages and towns in a pleasant manner, without having to stop too often.
