Parking is free everywhere in Opsterland. However, we do have blue zones in and around Beetsterzwaag's Hoofdstraat and in the center of Gorredijk.

What is a blue zone?

You can recognize the blue zone by both the signs at the beginning and the end of the zone, and by the blue line around the parking spaces. You need a blue parking disc in this zone, where you need to enter the time of arrival in order to adhere to the maximum parking time indicated on the signs. The blue zone applies Monday through Saturday from 09:00 to 18:00, with the exception of Friday evenings in Gorredijk, which requires the use of the parking disc during the weekly shopping evening until 21:00. Outside these times and days, parking is free.

Parking controls

Special investigating officers (BOAs) conduct parking checks. They check for a (correctly set) blue disk, and whether a car is not parked for too long or incorrectly. If a parking violation occurs, our BOA's can issue a fine. Don't risk a fine and follow the blue zone rules.

You received a parking fine, now what?

If you find a parking fine under your windshield wiper, you have committed a parking violation. You will receive the parking fine from the Central Judicial Collection Agency (CJIB) at home within a few weeks. This is a letter detailing your violation and the fine you must pay for it. The letter includes a giro collection form you can use to pay the fine.
Read the most current fine amount here.

If you disagree with a parking fine, you may file a written appeal with the district attorney within six weeks of receiving the acceptance giro. The address is listed on the acceptance giro.
