Permit for the Transport of Explosives

When do you need a transfer permit?

You need a transport permit if you transport explosives for civilian use within the Netherlands. For example, loose gunpowder for sport shooters, shooting clubs, or businesses.

Are the explosives stored in the municipality of Opsterland? If so, please apply for the permit from us.

What do you need?

To apply for a transport permit, you need a valid WECG certification. If you don't have one yet, you must first apply for the certification with the police.

Please include the following information with your application:

• a copy of your WECG certification;
• the sender's name and address;
• the recipient's name and address;
• the name and address of the end user, if it is someone else;
• the address where the explosives are stored;
• the type and quantity of explosives;
• information about the transportation, such as the route and the scheduled departure and arrival dates;
• the details of the transportation company, if a company is transporting the explosives;
• what you're using the explosives for.

How to Apply for a Permit

1. Apply to the police for WECG certification if you do not already have it.
2. Fill out the application form.
3. Please attach the requested documents.
4. Please submit your application to the municipality of Opsterland.

How long does it take?

We will process your application within 8 weeks. Sometimes we ask the police for advice. This may cause the processing of your application to take longer.

An application for a transfer permit costs €121.00.
