Nominating someone for a royal award
Many people dedicate themselves to society, often inconspicuously and in the background. Opsterland has many such residents. Together they are the Krêft fan de Mienskip. Do you know such a person and do you think this person deserves public recognition? Then make a proposal for an award or 'ribbon'. We will gladly help you with the application.

Royal award or 'ribbon'
A person can earn a ribbon if he or she personally commits to society in a special way. By far the most honors are awarded to volunteers. Think of people who selflessly dedicate themselves to sports clubs, food banks, neighborhood associations, care institutions, but also foster parents or caregivers. In addition, awards may be given to persons who, although holding a paid position, have performed exceptionally well in it and have thus rendered a service to society.
Requirements
- The proposed person lives in the municipality of Opsterland.
- The proposed person commits as a volunteer without market compensation, for a minimum of six hours per week and in principle for a minimum of fifteen years. This can of course consist of multiple activities at different associations/foundations. The duration and intensity of activities may partly compensate each other.
- The activities take place consecutively (i.e., without noticeable interruptions). If there is a long interruption in activities, the reason for the interruption(s) should be explained.
- The activities are (in part) still current; they must not have been completed too long ago (at time of award no more than one year ago).
From the organizations or associations/foundations where the volunteering takes place/foundations, people can support the application with letters of support. Are you unsure if the person you want to nominate meets the Requirements? Please feel free to contact us to discuss.
