Pupil Transport
Parents of children attending school arrange their own transportation. Often the school is close by, so children can walk or bike. But what if your child needs to attend a special school that is further away? Or if there is no school nearby that fits your religion or beliefs? In that case, we can think along with you. On this page you can read how it works.
Pupil Transport

Transporting your child to school is inconvenient
Every child has a right to an education. As a parent, you make sure that your child goes to school every day. You bring your child, or your child goes to school independently, usually this is not a problem. For some children, transportation to school is a little more difficult. For example, because they have a disability or attend a special school that is far from home.
In conversation with the Wmo consultant
Are you unable to take your child to school? Then discuss the problems with the Wmo consultant. Together we look at the possibilities. First we look at whether your child can learn to travel to school independently. For example, by bike or bus. Another option is to travel together by bus or car. An allowance is then possible. Is this not possible? Then (partial) cab transport may be an option.
Do you have a question? If so, please contact the Wmo consultant.

There are Requirements for pupil transportation
You may be eligible for pupil transportation if your child's school is further than 6 kilometers from your home. This applies to the following schools:
- A regular elementary school
- Special primary education (SBO)
- Special education (SO)
- Secondary (special) education
- Vocational training (apply through UWV)
Many things are possible. For example, you can get reimbursement for your child's bicycle or public transport pass. For the companion who goes along (you, or someone else) this also applies. It depends on your income and the distance from the school how much the reimbursement is. Sometimes you may have to pay some of it yourself.
The possibilities:

Bike
First, we will see if your child can (with you) bike to school.
You may be able to get a mileage allowance for the bicycle.

Bus
Can't make it by bike? Sometimes a bus pass is also an option. It can be a great opportunity for your child to learn to travel independently on public transportation.
.

Car
Can't your child travel independently (yet)? Or is the bus travel time too long? You can go by car. You or someone from your network brings your child to school. Mileage reimbursement is possible.

Cab
The last option is adapted transportation, such as a cab van. Your child will be picked up and returned home after school.
