Traditionally, churches have been an important landmark in the landscape. For centuries, churches have acted as a connecting link in the community, in village life and within cities.
Vision of religious heritage
In March 2021, Opsterland Municipality decided to start drafting a church vision. The reason to proceed with the implementation of a church vision is the presence of a large number of culturally historically valuable church buildings in the municipality and the desire to preserve the use function of church buildings for the future, regardless of what function.
Preservation of church landscape
The vision religious heritage can provide tools for the preservation or restoration of church buildings in Opsterland and secure them for future generations. In this way we want to sustainably preserve the historic and varied church landscape of Opsterland.
