Repair of masonry and wooden posts
Contractor Oosterhof Holman from Harlingen is carrying out the work. The quay walls are undergoing a thorough refurbishment: loose stones and joints are being removed and replaced. Most of the work is being done from the water, using a work raft. The wooden piles near the bridges are also being repaired or replaced.
There is a temporary parking ban in effect.
Part of the repair work requires temporarily lowering the water level in the Compagnonsvaart canal. To this end, a temporary sheet pile wall will be installed at the Bleekersbrêge bridge.
To prevent damage to the quays, parking will be prohibited along the Langewal for approximately four weeks during this phase. There will be fewer parking spaces available on Brouwerswal for a while: the closed-off spaces will be blocked off with construction fences. During this period, you can park in the nearby parking lots in the center.
Nuisance cannot be completely prevented
The removal of old mortar and brickwork may cause noise and dust. The municipality asks for your understanding for any inconvenience this may cause. Parking is available in nearby parking lots.
