Visitor information municipal archives
The municipality of Opsterland has a municipal archive. The archive provides much information about Opsterland and its inhabitants from 1616 onward.
You can visit the Municipal Archives for various types of archival research. Much of the information is public. In certain cases there are limits to the public accessibility of the records. As a rule of thumb, records less than twenty years old are not public. In addition to government documents, the archive also contains some private archives.

Rates municipal archives
Use of the municipal archives is free of charge. There is a flat rate for reference by our staff or making copies.
Archival research costs
If records research is done for you or records are sent to you, you pay a filing fee (plus any copy and/or scanning fees).
- For document searches, you pay €27.00 per quarter hour or part thereof.
Copy or scan
Any copies made will be charged separately. No charge will be made for providing data that is already available digitally.

The copy and scan costs for real estate information (documents from construction records) are:
- A0 (84 cm x 118 cm): €12.35
- A1 (59 cm x 84 cm): €10.30
- A2 (42 cm x 59 cm): €8.20
- A3 (30 cm x 42 cm): €2.05
- A4 (21cm x 30 cm): €1.05
For other records, copy and scan fees:
- Scan: €1.05
Copying costs:
- A3 black and white: €0.62
- A3 color: €1.45
- A4 black and white: €0.31
- A4 color: €0.72
Building and housing authority archives
Building permits are available for almost all buildings in Opsterland built or rebuilt after approximately 1905. You can consult these, for example if you plan to rebuild. It is also possible to have large-format copies made of the available drawings.
