Municipality actively helps residents and business owners with building plans

The municipality of Opsterland helps and inspires residents and entrepreneurs to make good building plans. The city council has adopted so-called quick review criteria for this purpose. With these, the municipality provides clarity and tips on how small building plans can be properly designed. Through concrete instructions and handy tips, residents can quickly and easily apply this to their small building plans.

Review by own officials

Via the same quick-action criteria, small building plans will from now on be assessed for welstand by officials themselves. They assess the initiatives, such as the placing of a dormer or fence and the building of an extension or outbuilding on environmental quality (formerly welstand). By conducting the assessment themselves, time is saved and submitters know quickly whether they may begin their work. Advice was previously sought from the Hûs en Hiem building standards committee.

"As a municipality, we want to serve our residents quickly and efficiently. With the quick review criteria we can give residents good inspiration and frameworks in advance for their small building plans. Our employees are well equipped to test and discuss this with residents," says Alderman Marcel van Opzeeland.

On the municipality's website, residents and business owners can ask all their questions about building and living.
