Report calamities or violence at Health

Providers of WMO support are obliged to provide good and safe Health . Therefore, they must report all calamities and incidents of violence to the municipality. The goal is to work together to improve the quality of support. A report of an emergency or violent incident must be made within three working days.

Calamities and (violent) incidents in other types of care can be reported to the Healthcare and Youth Inspectorate (IGJ).

What is the difference between and emergency and (violent) incident

Incident: This is a relatively minor disruption in the provision of care. It may involve a near miss or error by a staff member, resulting in the client not receiving the optimal support or potentially being harmed. For example:

  • Late detection of a problem.
  • Giving incorrect information to the client.
  • Improper handling of health problems.
  • Errors in documentation.

Calamity: This is a more serious event with harmful consequences, such as:

  • The death of a client.
  • Serious bodily injury caused by the actions of another.
  • Serious transgressive behavior (physical, psychological, or sexual) by clients or caregivers.
  • Serious incidents of violence.

A disaster poses a direct threat to the quality or continuity of support. It is important to investigate the cause of the calamity and take measures to prevent its recurrence.

You should always report emergencies and serious incidents of violence to the municipality

An emergency or serious violence incident must be reported to the municipality's Wmo supervisor within three days. This supervisor starts the follow-up procedure.

Sometimes the difference between an emergency and an incident is tricky
