Energy Transition Advisor

HBO - €5,624 - one-year contract with the possibility of a permanent position - 32-36 hours

You start your day with a cup of coffee and a glance at your calendar. Shortly after, you get in the car to head to a meeting with an energy cooperative. On the way, you briefly coordinate with the project manager involved so you arrive well-prepared. Back in Beetsterzwaag, you work with a colleague on a recommendation for the municipal executive. You switch effortlessly between different locations, people, and topics. It’s precisely this variety that makes your work dynamic and impactful: what you do has a direct impact on a sustainable Opsterland.

What will you do?

As an Energy Transition Advisor, you’ll work on a wide range of issues related to energy conservation, renewable energy generation, and grid congestion. In a municipality with short lines of communication and plenty of room for initiative, you’ll have the freedom to shape the direction of this work yourself. You’ll carry out projects that help residents and organizations save energy, and you’ll promote initiatives that contribute to renewable energy generation within our municipality. While supporting residents in making their homes more sustainable and guiding them through subsidy programs, you’ll identify where practical challenges arise. Consider, for example, the consequences of grid congestion, where you’ll work with partners to find smart solutions that make projects feasible despite these challenges. You’ll work closely with residents and see firsthand the impact of your efforts in the villages.

You will maintain contact with energy cooperatives, grid operators, and civic organizations to ensure that policy and practice are well aligned. You will prepare recommendations and memos for management and the Municipal Executive, providing clear insight into progress and the decisions that need to be made. In addition, you will translate national and provincial policies into concrete steps for Opsterland.

You will organize and participate in meetings with colleagues and external partners and ensure a strong link between policy and implementation. In doing so, you will make a tangible contribution to a sustainable, livable, and future-proof Opsterland.

Here's what we offer you

  • You enjoy working with others and are open to new ideas.
  • You are passionate about the energy and heating transition and want to contribute to a livable future.
  • You have a few years of experience in a similar role and tackle issues on your own.
  • You are resilient, can handle dissent, and remain calm when faced with conflicting interests.
  • You communicate clearly and interact easily with residents, colleagues, and regional partners.
  • You'll feel right at home in a small rural community where you'll have a wide range of responsibilities and plenty of freedom to do what you do best.
