Fireworks and fires
New Year's Eve is a celebration of and for everyone. Below you can read more about how we work together to ensure a safe New Year's Eve.
Fireworks
From Dec. 31, 6 p.m. to Jan. 1, 02 a.m., you may set off fireworks. Please note that certain types of fireworks have been banned since 2020. More information can be found on the Rijksoverheids site.
You may not buy fireworks and have them delivered to your home. You may only purchase and/or pick up fireworks at a legal outlet.
Spruce
Fires are often lit in the streets at the turn of the year, sometimes even in the middle of residential neighborhoods. Did you know that these fires are prohibited by the General Municipal Ordinance. For (bonfires) you must apply for an exemption from the municipality.
(Bonfire) fires are dangerous and pose risks because all sorts of things are often thrown into them, such as car tires, glass and oil residues. It also causes nuisance to the surrounding area and leaves damage to the road surface. And this is what we want to prevent as a municipality.
Help
Therefore, bring large household waste and other (combustible) materials that you no longer use away in time to the environmental street in Gorredijk. In this way, together we reduce the chance that there are flammable objects or materials that are set on fire at the turn of the year. Do you see that there have been fires? Then please clean up the remains of fires together, so that the road is left clean and accessible to traffic again.
