Election statements

This is an old post.

If your political party is participating in the municipal elections, we would be happy to help you increase your visibility. After all, as a party, you want to be visible in as many places as possible in Opsterland, and that is possible.

Election signs in every village

An election board will be placed in each village. You can put up a poster and/or pamphlet for your party on this board. Please note that space is limited. All parties must be given a reasonable opportunity to display their posters on the board without having to cover up those of other parties. This means that extremely large posters are not desirable.

We assume that you will place your poster and/or pamphlet neatly on the board itself and not outside of it. That way, voters can better read why they should mark your party's circle red.

Illegal billposting

Our residents live in Opsterland for a reason. They live here in one of the many authentic villages. We want to maintain that image during the election period. It is therefore inappropriate to plaster trees and municipal property such as lampposts and electricity boxes with posters. In order to continue enjoying our beautiful outdoor space, you as a political party naturally do not want to be fined and branded as a fly-poster.

Public outdoor space

Opsterland residents are proud of the green and diverse municipality in which they live and spend their leisure time. In the outskirts, motorists, cyclists, trucks, tractors, and other vehicles drive 24/7 on the many B-roads that Opsterland has to offer. We want to keep these roads safe during the election period as well. We therefore urge you, as a resident in the countryside, to take traffic safety into account when placing election posters on your own property, and not to place billboards near blind intersections or bends.

Election advertising on objects that are not owned by the municipality

If you would like to put up election advertising on your own property, you are allowed to do so. However, the election advertising may only cover a total area of 0.8m2. That is approximately 40 x 20 cm. A total of only three posters/advertisements may be put up. In this way, we try to avoid spoiling the appearance of the municipality too much.
