Then you may be eligible for a program aimed at helping you become self-employed, called the préstart. This program allows you to prepare yourself for starting your own business with the help of a coach. During this program, you will retain your Social assistance benefit be exempt from work obligations. During this period, you will learn how to write a business plan and acquire entrepreneurial skills, for example.

If you start your own business while receiving social assistance, you can receive financial support under the Self-employed Persons Assistance Scheme (Bbz). When are you considered a part-time entrepreneur?

  • You are a sole proprietorship without employees.
  • On average, you work no more than 23 hours per week as an entrepreneur (maximum of 1,225 hours per year).
  • You are registered with the Chamber of Commerce.
  • The prices of your product are in line with the industry.
  • You have clear records.
  • In addition to running a part-time business, you are also applying for a salaried job.
