Death
When someone dies, it must be reported to the municipality. Usually the funeral director does this. The municipality then prepares a death certificate. The municipality also makes sure the population register is updated.

Bring
- B-envelope (an envelope for CBS. Inside it is a form on which the physician states the cause of death)
- For a natural cause of death: certificate of death issued by the attending physician or municipal coroner
- In case of an unnatural cause of death: certificate of no objection cremation/burial issued by the public prosecutor
- If postponement of cremation/burial is necessary: certificate of no objection issued by a medical practitioner
- If dismemberment is involved: request to mayor to issue leave to dismember
- Possibly the marriage record for updating death records

The declaration of death does not cost anything. An excerpt from the death certificate does cost.

Details
You may bury or cremate the deceased no earlier than 36 hours and no later than six working days after death. Do you want to bury the deceased earlier? Then you need permission from the prosecutor and the mayor.
