Groundwater

The municipality faces the risk of flooding not only above ground. Groundwater can also sometimes cause problems. You can tell this by wet crawl spaces or basements in homes, puddles on the street, and gardens that are too wet. In other cases, however, the groundwater level is too low. This can lead to foundation problems in buildings built on wooden piles, for example. A low groundwater level also accelerates land subsidence.
