All-around Field Service Representative (Civil Engineering)

MBO Level 3 I €4,326 gross (including IKB) I one-year contract with the possibility of a permanent position I 36 hours

You start your day with a cup of coffee at the worksite, together with your coworkers. You laugh, catch up, and coordinate who will handle which tasks. Then you head out. You repair street paving, but switch gears when a report comes in about a clogged drain. In the neighborhood, you easily strike up a conversation with residents and tackle whatever needs to be done. Around noon, you catch up with your coworkers again, share your experiences, and coordinate the rest of the day. In the afternoon, you install a bench and make the rounds to check on work being done by a contractor. At the end of the day, you drive back and see the results of your efforts: together, you’ve once again made a visible contribution to a pleasant and safe living environment.

What will you do?

As an all-around civil engineering field worker, you will work outdoors every day on the maintenance and management of public spaces. You will perform a variety of tasks, such as repairing pavement, detecting and resolving sewer blockages, installing street furniture, and carrying out small construction projects, such as creating driveways. In this role, you will often work alone, spending most of your time out in the field independently. You will work safely and carefully, utilizing KLIC reports to prevent damage to cables and pipes.

You work according to a schedule, but also respond to reports and situations that arise in the field. You handle reports from residents and are visible and approachable in the neighborhood. You coordinate with colleagues and external parties and supervise contractors’ work, such as mowing and hedge trimming. You’re able to speak up effectively on your own. You also check whether the work is being done properly and as agreed, and address any issues if it isn’t.

In addition, you will help with snow and ice removal and be on standby in case of emergencies, such as flooding or storm damage. You will work both independently and with colleagues, ensuring every day that public spaces remain safe, clean, and fully functional.

Here's what we offer you

  • Attractive employment conditions; a competitive salary based on Scale 6 of the Municipal Collective Bargaining Agreement (up to €4,326 gross per month for full-time employment, including the Individual Choice Budget (IKB) of 17.05%), travel allowance, a pension plan through ABP, and discounts on various insurance policies.
  • A varied job; one day you’re working outdoors on street maintenance and repairs, and the next you’re interacting with residents and resolving issues in the neighborhood.
  • Plenty of opportunities to develop through training, courses and workshops.
  • Room for your ideas; if you think things can be done differently we are open to that.
  • Focus on wellness; participation in our wellness program and several annual activities involving the entire organization and the team.

Who are you?

We’re all different, and that’s what makes it great. It means we can accomplish so much more together than we could on our own. Still, all of our field staff share a number of common traits. Do you see yourself in this description?

  • You work together and are there for your colleagues—together, you get the job done.
  • You see what needs to be done and get right on it.
  • Working outdoors suits you; you think it’s important for the neighborhood to look neat and safe.
  • If things don't go as planned, you can easily adapt and stay on top of things.
  • You work neatly and carefully—whatever you do, you do it well.
  • Residents may approach you—so you communicate in an approachable way: you listen, offer your input, and take care of what needs to be done.
  • You have an eye for areas for improvement and actively contribute to making them better.
  • You have a background in civil engineering or civil engineering and construction (MBO Level 3) and are able to perform your work independently and professionally.
  • You hold a Class B(E) driver’s license; you already have a Class C driver’s license and certifications such as VCA and BHV, or you are willing to obtain them.
