Registration of a party designation for municipal elections

This name then appears:

• Top of the candidate list
• On the ballot

Note: Registration of a name is not required. If you do not register a name, you are participating with a blank list. In that case, only a list number will appear on the ballot and no party name.

Automatic registration

• A party name already registered for the Provincial Council automatically also applies to all municipal elections in that province.
• Parties that have registered their names with the Electoral Council for national elections do not have to do so again locally.

Important deadline

Health ensure that the central election office receives your registration request (Model G 3-1) no later than December 22, 2025. You can hand in your request at the town hall in Beetsterzwaag or mail it to verkiezingen@opsterland.nl. The deposit must also have been paid by then. You can find the form (Model G 3-1) in Word and PDF at the bottom of this page. 

What does the central election office look for when registering?

The name of your party:

• Must not be contrary to public policy
• Must not be too similar to another party's name
• Must not resemble a legal entity prohibited by the courts
• May not be misleading
• May be up to 35 characters long

Note: If a valid list of candidates was not submitted for the last election for which the name was registered, the registration will be deleted. 

Cost (deposit)

• Municipal elections: €112.50
