Council advisor / deputy registrar

HBO I Scale 10 I indefinite I 32-36 hours

At nine o'clock you step into City Hall and ask the clerk if there are any details. Written questions appear to have come in, but you doubt that this is really what the council member wants to know - just call later. While you go through the council proposals for the handover meeting, a colleague asks you how he can best involve the council in his dossier. That gives you energy: thinking along and advising.

In the afternoon, you and the clerk discuss yesterday's information evening and work out actions. Then you prepare the committee meeting and briefly coordinate with the chairman. For the evening program, you go for a fresh walk with colleagues and have dinner together. During the meeting you support the chairman, advise council members and actively think about the decisions. When the ushers close the building, you walk out with them - tired but satisfied, and wondering what tomorrow will bring.

What will you do?

As a council clerk, you will work in a small, close-knit team: the Municipal Clerk’s Office Office consists of a clerk, the registrar and you. Together, you ensure that the council can do its job well. You are the sparring partner of both the clerk and the clerk and support council members with advice on motions, amendments and other council instruments - and on how they can be used strategically.

You prepare meetings, make sure everything runs smoothly and carefully work out the decisions. You are also secretary of, for example, the audit committee. In addition, you advise policy staff on how and when the council should be involved in their dossiers. Residents who want to talk to the council know where to find you, and you help them on their way. In the absence of the registrar, you support the mayor and council members during council meetings.

You will also help think about how the Municipal Clerk’s Office and the council can organize their processes smarter and better. And of course Health you for the practical and substantive organization of working visits, information meetings and other activities that bring the council closer to residents and partners.
