Receive mail from the municipality digitally?
Did you know that you can receive some mail from the Municipality of Opsterland digitally in the MijnOverheid message box? Perhaps you already use MijnOverheid for other government mail. You may also be completely new to it. We would be happy to tell you what the possibilities are.
What is the message box?
The Berichtenbox is a personal mailbox where you, as a resident, can receive mail from the government digitally. You have been able to receive mail from organizations such as the Tax and Customs Administration, RDW and UWV for some time, and now you can receive mail from us as well. That's handy, because it gives you all the mail from the government in one place. Of course, joining MijnOverheid is your own choice: if you don't want to or can't, you don't have to do anything and you will continue to receive mail on paper.
How do I receive my mail digitally?
You do not automatically receive mail from the municipality digitally. To do so, first log in with your DigiD on my.overheid.nl and agree to receive mail from the Municipality of Opsterland. You can do this in 2 ways:
- After logging in, you will receive a notification that new organizations have been added to MijnOverheid since your last visit. You may find that the Municipality of Opsterland is among them. You can then click 'Yes, I agree to receive mail from these organizations in my Berichtenbox, and therefore no longer on paper'.
- You can also click on "Settings" after logging into MijnOverheid and then check the Opsterland Municipality under "Organizations Message Box.
What mail can I receive digitally?
Not all mail from the municipality is already available digitally. We focus first on municipal tax assessments and gradually expand this to include, for example, notifications that your passport or driver's license is about to expire.
How do I know if there is a new post?
You can access the Message Box via your mobile if you download the special Message Box App. You can find the app in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. The app gives you easy access to your messages and actively sends you notifications when there is new mail. So you don't miss a thing. Don't want to use the app? You can also set up an email notification in MijnOverheid. You can do this in 'Settings'. Health ensure that under 'Notifications' the slider 'Notification when there is a new message in the message box' is on. You will then receive an e-mail as soon as a new message is ready for you.
