Why are these products healthier?
The products in the Healthier Shelves section have been selected according to the JOGG Teamfit criteria: a national approach that helps to make the environment healthier. The basic principle is simple: make healthy choices easier. This means that we are not looking for perfect products, but for better choices within each product group.
What makes a product a better choice?
According to JOGG Teamfit, the following factors are taken into account:
- Less sugar, salt, and saturated fat
- Fewer calories
- More fiber and nutrients
- A better composition, such as whole grains or fewer additives
Sometimes the difference lies in small things: a little less sugar, a little more fiber, or a healthier composition. But it is precisely these small improvements that, if you choose them often, make a big difference to your health!
Small changes, big impact
That is why Gezonde Schappen often works with smart product swaps. These are products that are similar to what you normally choose, but are just a little bit better for you. You don't have to change your eating habits, you just make a slightly healthier choice within what you already eat.
Consider, for example:
- Popcorn instead of chips → less fat and calories
- A nut bar instead of a chocolate bar → more nutrients and less sugar
- Whole grain products instead of white → more fiber and a longer feeling of satiety
- Zero-calorie drinks instead of sugary soft drinks → all the flavor, none of the sugar
- A handful of unsalted nuts instead of salty snacks → healthier fats and more nutrients
These are small changes that are easy to maintain. Some products are less processed, contain fewer additives, or have better nutritional value. Others contain less sugar or calories. This way, making healthier choices is not a complicated puzzle, but simply a logical part of your daily shopping.
