Communication advisor specializing in board communication
Opsterland is located in the middle of the Frisian forest area and is one of the largest municipalities in Friesland in terms of land area. Around 30,000 inhabitants live in the 16 characteristic and vibrant villages and the surrounding area. What makes our municipality special is its landscape of forests, heathland, nature reserves, grasslands, canals, and peat bogs. This landscape, combined with tranquility, space, and good accessibility, makes Opsterland a very attractive place to live and spend your leisure time.
Opsterland is located along the A7 and N381 highways and is therefore easily accessible. Major cities such as Heerenveen and Drachten are only 10 minutes away, and Groningen and Leeuwarden are within 30 minutes.
Are you looking for a great job for 28 to 32 hours a week in which you can make an important contribution to a sustainable and future-proof Opsterland? A job in which you can make a difference for our residents? Do you want to inspire others and ensure that our administration is visible and approachable? Yes? Then we are looking for you!
We are looking for a sharp, fresh-thinking, and passionate
Communications advisor specializing in government communications
What will you do?
As an experienced board communications advisor, you respond promptly to the needs of the board. You do this by discussing the content and form of communications, providing support, and monitoring public opinion, both internally and externally. You also maintain an overview of the projects, portfolios, and tasks for which the board members are responsible. All of this is done from your field of expertise in communications.
You proactively find solutions to their communication challenges. By monitoring, analyzing, and interpreting media communications, public opinion, and projects, you arrive at sound and clearly substantiated communication advice. You translate (complex) political and administrative themes into concrete strategies and key messages.
With your background in communications, you will act as a sparring partner for the administrators and contribute your vision and proven expertise to the tasks set out in the coalition agreement. You will assist the administrators in preparing for (media) appearances and contribute ideas on effective ways to reach the target group.
You implement an active communication and press policy, enabling you to inform residents, entrepreneurs, colleagues, and the media quickly and easily. Where appropriate, you act as spokesperson on behalf of the board.
Who are you?
You are the strong and experienced advisor that our directors and colleagues can rely on. You enjoy using your sharp, fresh mind and broad perspective to achieve optimal results, even outside office hours. You challenge yourself and your communications colleagues to think one step further.
You are politically sensitive; you are good at assessing or predicting which political decisions will be taken, which measures are being prepared, and which projects will be implemented. Your passion for government means that you are well informed about developments within regional and national government.
Where do you land?
In the new Communications team. We will ensure that you and your colleagues get off to a flying start. We will provide a warm welcome, familiarize you with our organization, and involve you in all ongoing projects. You will get to know the team, your colleagues, and, of course, the directors in an informal way. You are more than welcome, and you will feel it.
Your workplace can be in multiple locations: at home, at the office, or another (work) location. With the tools we provide, you can work how and when you want. We have one condition: on Tuesdays, you must be in Beetsterzwaag, where we will work together and discuss current issues.
What are you bringing?
- Knowledge; you have completed a higher professional education program in the field of communication and are up to date in our profession, for example by reading blogs, websites, magazines, or by taking courses;
- A strategic perspective, which is reflected in your advice and approach, is also evident from your experience;
- You enjoy the challenge of speaking on behalf of others, even in crisis situations.
- Working with and advising administrators and fellow advisors is a challenge that makes you happy. You know your way around political, administrative, and civil service relationships.
- Experience advising administrators within (local) government.
What do we have to offer you?
- Scale 10 of the collective labor agreement for municipalities. You will earn a maximum of €4,671. This amount is gross per month for a 36-hour working week.
- An Individual Choice Budget (IKB) of 17.05% of your gross salary. You decide how to use this budget. This budget includes, for example, vacation pay and the year-end bonus. You can also purchase extra leave and participate in the ABP pension plan.
- Plenty of room for personal development and taking various courses and training programs. Learning from and with each other is our priority: together we strive for the best results.
- A temporary employment contract for a period of 1 year. If we are a good match, we will convert this to a permanent contract.
