Physical Environment Advisor
HBO | Scale 11 | open-ended | 32-36 hours
You start the day with a cup of coffee and check the work inventory: are there any new requests? You call an initiator to make an appointment and get clarity. Then you jump on your bike to check out a housing site. Back at the office you coordinate with the housing consultant and the urban planner: does this fit into our spatial vision? At the end of the day you work on letters and draw up a college proposal for a solar park. No file is the same - and you never do it alone. You work together with a fixed and committed team.
What will you do?
As Physical Environment Advisor you fulfill multiple roles: advisor, policy developer and process supervisor. Basically, you are a spatial generalist with a solid substantive basis. You have experience in the field and know how to apply your planning knowledge practically and convincingly. You assess applications, advise administrators and initiators, and supervise spatial procedures from start to finish.
You are someone who picks up things independently, keeps an overview and shows initiative even in complex dossiers. At the same time, you actively seek cooperation: with colleagues from other disciplines, with external parties and with residents. You guard the spatial quality in vision development and think actively about current issues such as housing, energy and sustainability.
Are some parts of the position still challenging for you? No worries, we are happy to look together at how you can grow and find your place in this role.
Here's what we offer you
- Attractive terms of employment; a nice salary that matches your work experience according to scale 10 or 11 of the collective bargaining agreement for municipalities (based on scale 11 up to € 6193 gross per month for full-time employment) an Individual Choice Budget (IKB) of 17.05%, travel allowance, a pension plan through ABP and discounts on various insurances.
- A varied job; one day you will be talking to initiators and the next day consulting with the director in charge.
- Plenty of opportunities to develop through training, courses and workshops.
- Room for your ideas; if you think things can be done differently we are open to that.
- Excellent work/life balance; we will provide you with a laptop and a cell phone so you can work from home as well as in the office.
- Attention to your vitality; participation in our vitality program, annual multiple activities with the entire organization and team, and a fun work café!
Who are you?
We are all different and that's beautiful. That makes us achieve much more together than alone. Yet all our physical environment consultants share some of the same characteristics. Do you recognize yourself in them?
- You enjoy working with others and believe in being better together.
- Your advice is clear and convincing, both to administrators and to residents and initiators, even in the face of resistance.
- You interact easily with colleagues, external parties and residents and actively seek connections to achieve results together.
- You think in possibilities and quickly switch between different issues and roles, from policy development to plan review.
- You are at home in the political arena and know exactly when to zoom in on relevant issues.
- You have a completed college education, for example in Spatial Planning, Planning or Public Administration.
- You have an understanding of social, spatial and political developments and the ability to translate them into clear advice.
