Strategic advisor Climate and Living Environment

You start your week with a cup of coffee with the team manager of Climate and Environment. Together you discuss the most important dossiers and the political dynamics involved. Later that day, you join the consultation on heat transition, where you help give direction to the district implementation plans. You ask the right questions, connect content with strategy and bring in new perspectives. The next day, you discuss with fellow strategists how social developments are changing our work and what that requires of the organization. At the end of the week, you'll look back on valuable conversations that move things forward, with the feeling that you've influenced decisions that really matter.

What will you do?

Everything moves in Opsterland: the climate, the landscape and the way we live and work together. You are the person who keeps an overview of the playing field, establishes connections and helps set the course. Whether it concerns the heat transition, climate adaptation, biodiversity or the circular economy, you see the connection and help guide the political choices we make as a municipality.

For the department you are the senior point of inquiry for complex and integral dossiers. You advise on both content and process and where necessary you contribute to decision-making and policy recommendations. You are administratively sensitive and environmentally aware; you monitor support, maintain contacts with cooperation partners and represent the interests of the municipality in networks. You also coordinate the team's contributions to the annual reports and budget, so that coherence is maintained between the department's various policy areas.

As an experienced strategist, you are the sparring partner for management, the college and the council. You translate complex developments into clear lines of action, challenge, introduce new perspectives and ensure that policy is embedded in the organization. From your helicopter view you guard the coherence between different policy areas and give direction to the developments of climate and environment within the spatial domain.
