Lauswolt director Marc van Gulick Knight of the Order of Orange-Nassau

Director of the Lauswolt estate Marc van Gulick was appointed Knight of the Order of Orange-Nassau on Sunday, July 6, for his great achievements for the gastronomy, hospitality and cultural profiling of Fryslân. Commissioner of the King, Dr. A.A.M. Brok and Mayor A. Bouwman of Opsterland jointly awarded the decorations. This took place during the Lauswolt Summer Concert organized by Van Gulick, which also marked his last day of work at Lauswolt.

Under Van Gulick's leadership, Lauswolt earned a Michelin star and grew into a leading hotel and culinary country retreat. As a board member of the Guild of Master Chefs and initiator of the Alliance College, he also worked nationally to educate and inspire young professionals in the profession.

Van Gulick is also the driving force behind the Lauswolt Summer Concert, which grew into an annual tradition and an important cultural and networking event in the North. As chef, director and ambassador, Van Gulick has contributed 25 years to quality and top-level hospitality and to the image of the Opsterland municipality and the province.

His involvement goes beyond the estate itself. His commitment to community initiatives, including Alzheimer's Netherlands and music education for young people, also attests to his broad commitment and connecting role.

Mayor Andries Bouwman: "Very much deserved that Marc van Gulick was appointed Knight of the Order of Orange-Nassau during his beloved Lauswolt Summer Concert. Van Gulick has meant a lot to Opsterland. His involvement in the mienskip always went beyond the estate itself. The aura of Lauswolt reaches far beyond Beetsterzwaag and that is his great merit. We are grutsk on what he has built up and wish him much success in all that is yet to come."
